[on_my_heart]

I'm currently living with my inlaws. My FIL will NOT let us use the oven AT ALL in the summer, so what are your favorite, quick, and easy trashy eats? : ) The only thing I don't like is anchovies. Literally, haha.

[mz_bee]
Hi!

My name is Manda and I'm brand spankin' new to this community. I am so refreshed to find a group of people who are similarly passionate about promoting the health and education of lady-parts everywhere!!

My vulva enthusiasm has recently compelled me to write an amusing and informative little online quiz measuring "female anatomy expertise", which is currently entered into a contest on helloquizzy.com. I thought members of this community might be interested intaking it! Here it is:

http://helloquizzy.okcupid.com/tests/female-anatomy-expertise-test

I'm currently seeking constructive feedback regarding this test, as well! If you feel that it could be improved in any conceivable way, or have any questions regarding the answers to the test, please feel free to reply!!

Thank you and good luck! ;-)

I just went to the farmer's market and picked up a bag of beets. Unfortunately, I really don't know how to cook them. What's your favorite thing to do with fresh beets?

I have "friends" exactly like this. [Jul. 19th, 2008|01:38 pm]

literaryquotes

[scianaphobia]
Now Joan said stoutly, "I never really liked Buddy Willard. He thought he knew everything. He thought he knew everything about women..."

I looked at Joan. In spite of the creepy feeling, and in spite of my old, ingrained dislike, Joan fascinated me. It was like observing a Martian, or a particularly warty toad. Her thoughts were not my thoughts, nor her feelings my feelings, but we were close enough so that her thoughts and feelings seemed a wry, black image of my own.

Sometimes I wonder if I had made Joan up. Other times I wondered if she would continue to pop in at every crisis of my life to remind me of what I had been, and what I had been through, and carry on her own separate but similar crisis under my nose.

[inktip]
I seem to have more hair than the usual female does on the body. What can cause that? I heard somewhere that taking some kind of hormones can help. I'm on birth control, Necon; I'm taking a once daily woman's vitamin; and I'm taking a pill that helps clear up the acne on my face.

The Legend of Garbo (the book) [Jul. 20th, 2008|02:48 am]

I don’t normally read movie star biographies. In fact I don’t usually read biographies. But Peter Haining’s book The Legend of Garbo turns out not to be a biography anyway. In fact it’s a collection of essays and articles on Garbo, written by people who knew her or worked with her. Many of the articles were originally published in movie fan magazines back in the 1930s, while others were written more recently. There are even a couple of pieces claimed to be written by Garbo herself, including an account of her first contact with the world of acting.

The contributors include several of her directors, including Clarence Brown who helmed many of her best-known movies, and William Daniels who was the cinematographer on no less than twenty of her films, and has some fascinating things to say about the art of photographing Garbo.

It adds up to a surprisingly interesting insight into Garbo the actress, and into her highly individual acting technique. It also offers some limited insight into Garbo the woman. I found this one at the local library. It’s definitely worth a look if you can find it at your local library, as I was lucky enough to do.

Hi all! [Jul. 19th, 2008|09:21 am]

mst3k

[russ_arulo]
I'm a couple of days old to this community, but this is my first post. I didn't know about MST3k until I was about 11 years ago, and my first exposure was the movie. Since then, I've downloaded all the seasons and watched all the episodes I could bear to watch. Some of those movies were just awful...like "Mighty Jack" and "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". Oh, how they hurt me.

The first proper episode I was exposed to was due to a fellow MST3k-phile friend of mine: "The Brain That Wouldn't Die". To this day, that remains among my top five favorite episodes.

What episode is the hardest for me to get through? Ooh...I think that distinction goes to "San Francisco International". Yes, it managed to beat out "Alien from L.A." and anything Roger Corman did.

MST3k doesn't come up often for me in everyday life, but when it does, there is always a lot of joy that comes with it. Case in point: a few years back, I stayed with my indoctrinator for Thanksgiving. He and his family always go to the theaters on Thanksgiving Day, since there would be barely anyone else around. They elected to see "Elf", I chose "Gothika". I was the only person present for that showing. So, I kicked my feet up and riffed away. Such joy!

I don't think one episode is enough to indoctrinate someone; I was shown three in a row and "Brain That Wouldn't Die" happened to be the best of the three. So, my three would be that one, "The Horror of Party Beach" and "The Wild Wild World of Batwoman".

Now, I have to send you to Hell.

munchies are the best chef [Jul. 19th, 2008|12:36 pm]

[im_that_girl_]
Me and a couple friends got some illegal substances last night. It was tough getting a hold of the stuff, because cops have busted about 7 dealers in the past month. It's terrible really.

So we were highly anticipatory and excited and hit up the old supermarket for some munchies to consume later. I picked it out, strawberry toaster strudel and white castle cheeseburgers.

I assure you that it was the best meal of my life.

Journal: [info]endofmarch
Website: Flickr

There is a way to describe MJ's journal and the word elegant comes to mind first. Her layout is a classic mauve with cursive letterhead. Her icons are always subtle and the words that flow (unless she is frustrated!) are always beautiful.

But there is more, oh yes, there is that fragrance of vintage clothing and perfume. MJ's world is a cross between bohemian and modern and perhaps what you see is that combination of being from Quebec (oui!) and havibg just come back from spending a whole year in a metropolis like Seoul, South Korea.

This girl is the typical Aries, perhaps that's why I like her so much! As a Sagittarian I can so recognize an individual from a fellow fire sign from miles away (or cybermiles, if you wish to get technical). This young woman is adventurous, colorful, strong and, yes, very passionate about what she loves!

What is MarieJ anyway? Well...she is a painter. She is a photographer and a truly, amazingly good one (I am her biggest fan) and moreoever, an artist of the spirit.

MJ is a connoisseur too, ask her about the most incredible chanteusse and there she can truly give you a fabulous lesson in English, French or...heck even Korean! LOL!

I have had the privilege to know this beautiful friend for a few months, but I can promise you she is on my list to stay and she will be in yours too if you welcome her.

Her journal is a public one with a selective group of friends and communities. Feel free to browse if you want to travel or smile or feel better about your day.

Marie-Josée makes this world truly beautiful!

[redundantly]
I bought a car from the previous user about a week ago. Everything's going great with it, and it's really helped out with the gas mileage and all. There's only one problem.

There was a Jesus fish plate thing bolted to the back of the car. I took the fish off, but there's now this incredible outline (from the sun and wear, etc) of the thing. It's very clear and very evident, and I do not want that on my car. I've tried scrubbing it, and that helped a little, but I don't know what else to do. Is there a cheap, effective way of getting the outline of that damn thing off my car?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I'd rather not just cover it up. I think bumper stickers and the like are pretty tacky and I'd like to just clean it off.

but I'm wondering what everyone thinks was the worst B-movie that Mike/Joel and the bots were subjected to.  My vote is on Hell Cats, that movie was so beyond bad that it was almost painful to watch even with the amazing three making jokes about it all the way through.  Anyone else have an opinion?
